The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit began operations in 1980 when Prof. Toomas-Andres Sulling performed the first coronary artery bypass grafting. Today the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit became the most modern and well-equipped heart disease department in Estonia. We are working on recently renovated area: the department has 12 beds equipped for intensive care. Into our The team includes 10 doctors, 33 nurses and 17 health visitors. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit serves patients in Northern Estonia and the islands. We are the only STEMI center in the region (or the main center for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction). The cardiac intensive care unit is a priority for patients with heart disease in serious condition. The department employs cardiologists with extensive experience in intensive care. Constantly all modern possibilities of observation are provided (invasive and non-invasive monitoring of the work of the heart and circulation). All modern methods of diagnostics and treatment (coronary angiography or probing of cardiac blood vessels, ultrasound of the heart, temporary electrical stimulation of the heart, extracorporeal circulation, cardiac surgery, intravenous thrombolysis in case of massive pulmonary embolism, blood pressure measurement lung, magnetic study, computer study, etc.). If necessary, operational cooperation with other leading specialists of the Regional Hospital.
