Canadian scientists have found a way to restore the ability to smell to patients

Loss of smell in medicine is called anosmia. In the next two years, this condition is more observed in people infected with coronavirus.

Canadian scientists were able to identify six genes "responsible" for the restoration of this ability in patients.

According to experts, the lack of smell can be a sign of diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, dementia, as well as a complication of traumatic brain injury. However, special exercises and vitamin treatment are not always enough to fully realize this ability.

Interestingly, drugs have already been developed to restore the activity of each of the newly discovered genes. It is necessary to create a universal drug that summarizes the composition and effectiveness of these products.

In this sense, this study of scientists can provide new opportunities for modern medicine in the future for the rapid and effective treatment of anosmia.
